Tom Wurst teaches AP Human Geography at Magnolia West High School in Magnolia, Texas, about 45 miles northwest of Houston. He earned both his Bachelors and Master’s degrees from the University of North Texas. He has been in public education for over three decades and has taught AP Human Geography for 19 years.

Tom has attended the AP Human Geography Reading for 17 years, 12 as a table leader. He received the Distinguished Teaching Award from NCGE in 2003, the Lifetime Service Award from the Texas Alliance for Geographic Education in 2013, was a founder board member and served as President of the Friends of Geography in Houston, and has authored and co-authored several geography texts. Tom has taught in suburban Houston schools, San Jacinto Junior College, Houston Community College, and Lone Star College.
